From nothing in particular, its been quite a long week at least for me.. seems like everytime I want to blog there are a million and one things better to do... well.. blame it on the lazy libra horoscope?
As for the big fat lie that I told my parents, it isn't actually a very serious life or death issue or .. like cheating their money of sorts, its a big lie in another dimension.. oh man my mind is so full of linear algebra stuff.. and I still don't know anything about it. In any case thanks for your concern Beng and JK.. :p I'm alright (duh..)
Recently met up with one of my friends and found out that he is currently having a hard time dealing with problems in his life. We went for a drive and yeah I learnt a lot about what has happened, and because of what has happened, what sacrifices he has had to make etc. Well friend I'll be there for you if you need help and try to look on the bright side of life! I'm sure things will turn out better in due time, things can only get that bad~?
Reading Henry's (aka Wind) blog, really brought back memories of the good ol' days.. NOT. To me if NS could be summed up in a line it would be.. been there, done that, your turn. Something like that I reckon but actually its much more than that, especially with the friendships that have been forged, ties that have been closely knitted, bunks and platoons that have bonded.. wait a minute am I starting to talk like LTC Lai already? Haha..
I do recall some moments that are etched in my mind forever, images of Chun Kiat setting up the command tentage with Sgt. Sunny barking orders, along with Kangwei and various other signallers. That was the very first outfield in a unit that I went to and I was a total newbie at that time. I could see pearls of sweat trickling down from Chun Kiat's cheeks, starting from somewhere obscured by his helmet and then rolling down to his chin before finally hitting the long grass beneath him. *drip* Yes and then Chun Kiat gave me a "sian ji bua/welcome-to-the-shithole-club" look.
The worst outfield I went to, don't even remind me.. grr! I was in the line team with Muthu, Jason贼神 and Ganesan看医生 together with Sgt. Willis and.. tadah! KELVIN LIM! We were basically idling in the army 3-tonner(truck) when the ever-so-popular BSO came up to find us. Already I was kinda scared of him because I had already heard quite a lot of stories about him from GX/Fruchee(who was my army buddy in the end, I stole him from Ducky hahha!)
So the irritating bugger gave us a task to do which is to lay a line (similar to telephone lines) and do various tiebacks the way we were taught at SOS (School Of Signals). Before me was Ganesan and being the blur bugger that he was both at SOS as well as 42 SAR(our present unit at that time), he naturally did quite a lot of mistakes and was fully rectified by BSO who taught him to get hs rifle out of the way before doing anything.
Now it was my turn and I turned around to grab my rifle from the rifle rack but my HQ36 rifle was not there so I started to panic and by then BSO was shouting and pressuring me "Hey TS, where is your bloody rifle? Taking your own sweet time right? Nevermind..." All you readers have got to understand that he bellowed this out in the most sarcastic manner possible and this only served to wreck my nerves even more being a "xin jiao" (new bird) where National Service in the army was concerned..
By then Ganesan had already climbed up onto the tonner and then he said something like "eh TS I took your rifle.."
Alright so I just grabbed mine from him and jumped down the tonner but BSO immediately shot me the dirtiest look I've ever seen and he proceeded to accuse me of.. "secretly exchanging rifles with Ganesan, trying to keep it out of his view" I swear I wanted to kick his balls and ram them back into his body with my precious HQ36 at that point of time. "The 2 of you go back and take 1 extra.." That was how I got my very first extra guard duty in the "oh-so-guns-ablazing-fugging-glorious-SAF" My comments? "pp... ppphhhuuuiii!
