Well actually for quite some time now I have been visibly irritated by a whitehead residing on my right eyelid so after twitching around in school the whole day I decided it had to go.
Step 1: Wash your face to make your skin as _____ as possible. (clean? not-oily?)
Step 2: Proceed to scratch and irritate the site of the whitehead.
Step 3: Pinch the general area with thumb and index finger so that the skin above the whitehead suffers even more damage.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 & 3 (ouch...)
Step 5: Upon skin breakage remove the whitehead by gently squeezing.
Step 6: Sob uncontrollably before passing out on the toilet floor.
Ok step 6 was irrelevant.. haha!

The beautiful solution
Solution 1 is not really the best solution but nevertheless if it was somehow used, could possibly allow all the dwarves to be set free by the 2nd day in the worst case scenario.
Two dwarves start off by falling in the parade square. A third dwarf takes a look at them and if they are the same, he falls in at the side. If they are different, he falls in between them. Hence he always separates the 2 groups of dwarves, dotted and undotted. Going by this logic, the dwarves do not need to communicate but it does require the first few dwarves to take some initiative. So extending this argument, by the time the last dwarf falls in, there are 2 clear cut groups and he falls in between the 2 groups and he takes a 50% chance by putting up his hand. If it is wrong, he will leave his hand down on day 2 and the dwarves will be set free!
Smart solution!

Ok, the one dotted dwarf case is trivial:
The dotted dwarf himself sees no other dotted dwarf, and realized that he

Two dotted dwarves case:

also suspect that they themselves are dotted. So they observe the two
dotted dwarves. If there ARE REALLY TWO dotted dwarves, then, by day 2,
those two dwarves will put up their hand. Case closed.
(Stepping immediately to a sample case)
OK, I am a dwarf. I see 2 dotted dwarves. I assume that I am not dotted
(I don't know whether I am really dotted or not). So, I asumme that the 2
dotted dwarves that I saw are really the total number of dwarves. So I
wait 2 days. By right, If there really 2 dotted dwarves in the group, they
will know that by day 2, from previous argument.

Are you dumb??
Hehe so how is it? Have you all got the solutions yet? So far I suppose only JK, me and Henry know the solutions as well as J but she doesn't seem to be very interested in the puzzle. :(
Anyway just went to KTV with J and her bro's friends and sang a lot of oldies. Think along the lines of "ah li shan de gu niang" and ... another one that goes.. "chang jiang chang qian li..." Oh man.. ok they were yesteryear's hits but.. er.. haha.
Anyway due to the low frequency of KTV visits my voice has deteriorated tremendously (although it never was anything to shout about in the first place..) and almost went off key a few times. Phew, when I went off key I wasn't singing with the mike and J glared at me for a moment.. oops! LOL
Went to the MCS gathering and wah.. really damned intimidating.. so many people and so many cars. I should have taken a few pics but it was quite dark already. So maybe another time, managed to meet my secondary school friend there too!

Hello!
In line with my blog's 'motto', I will shout now that I am bored. Studying for tomorrow's tests so taking a break from my break. Haha..
I certainly hope I gained a few kg from the festivities, I ate lots and lots of rubbish like barbequeued pork slices (bah kua) as well as egg rolls aka love letters and half a container of pineapple tarts. This year confirm HUAT AH!
Anyway happy new year to all, CNY has 15 days so technically I am not late! Been quite busy lately with schoolwork, Dagomir is forcing us through "indirect coercion" to participate in his tutorials which is a damned good thing. After his tutorial today, I went to get a papaya milkshake minus shake. Which is papaya with milk.. within MINUTES of downing half the cup, I had to run for the loo. Papaya is always such an effective laxative.. at least for me -_-
My unfortunate witness was none other than Mr Jingkai the great man himself.. haha now you know why I swear by papaya's power?
Well and do you guys remember A? The guy who did the geography project with me last semester, his MSN nick was bordering on disgusting (at least to me) on Valentine's day because it roughly described him receiving flowers from another guy. Baahh, I wish Charles was around and he would start cursing and cursing non-stop. While I have nothing against people who are homosexuals or bi or whatever.. because I am oriented the other way, reading such stuff makes me cringe. Like the way I cringed when I watched Passion of the Christ, only a little bit lesser perhaps.
Visiting relatives alone sometimes is really a whole lot more fun as I discovered lately. Driving the APC to visit my relatives and being such a late riser, most of the time I'm the only guest in my relatives' places and actually got to be 'closer' to them instead of usually listening to my parents chat with them and us watching boring CNY entertainment shows on TV.
Like when I was at my 4th Aunt's place, chatted with her a lot regarding my late grandmother and she said I was one of her favourite grandsons. Anyway my late ah-ma is the 重男轻女 type so that spells half the story already. She also related a few funny incidents when she was a child herself, being chased by a lunatic right into their house until my ah-ma intervened and being so scared of the lunatic that she slipped over a pile of wooden poles and landed flat on her butt. Apparently she was so afraid that she didn't dare to tell my ah-ma about it because she would get told off or even smacked anyway if she told my ah-ma about her bruise.
There's also the legend of my eldest uncle being the head of the family once my late grandfather passed away. Heard that he was almost like a tyrant, if you disobeyed him or if you broke a bowl or spoon, he would use his knuckle and knock it real hard on your skull so much that a bruise would surface immediately. I think people back then were real sadistic or that people nowadays are real soft. What do you think of my sadistic family?
Then there's the 1 about my mother, she's so damned suay man. My mother's brother was a perpetual bully and one day stuffed a hammer or a spanner into my mother's schoolbag and my poor ol' mum carried the freaking heavy bag to school and didn't dare to take the bloody tool out because she would be damned embarrassed. A bit evil man, in my opinion.. zzz
Here's a puzzle that I still don't understand the solution to. Try it anyway, its given to us by Dagomir anyway..
There is a king and a group of dwarves on this island and the evil king has enslaved all the dwarves. The king offers the dwarves a chance everyday to be able to go free if they can fulfill 1 condition.
Condition: All of the dwarves must fall in at this parade square every morning and ONLY those WITH the red dot on their foreheads must raise their hand. This is the only way for them to escape.
1. Some of the dwarves have a red dot on their forehead. (this is not a racist joke/puzzle)
2. The dwarves do not know if they have the red dot or not.
3. The dwarves are infinitely smart but cannot communicate to each other. (cannot wink, talk, gesture etc)
4. There are no mirrors on this island and assume they cannot use the seawater to see their reflection.
I love these logic puzzles man... so damn fun!

Sociology....
Been reading Emile Durkheim's readings for a few days now and I find him quite amazing. Especially with regards to the theory of labour division as a society 'progresses' so as to speak. The reading even throws in a couple of Darwin-ian views to support Durkheim's views.
Damned. I think humans are getting stupider every minute. People living in the last century are such great thinkers, people like me already have trouble deciding what to have for lunch!
