BBQ
Had a farewell party for WWS and we got to have a BBQ at Downtown East.
Did I tell you guys that I love eating BBQ chicken wings? Hehe.. especially when they are nicely and evenly cooked and golden-brown in colour.
Which reminds me, I am craving for "Luo Jia Liang's" chicken wings already! Will tell you guys more about it when I have sufficient evidence!
On another note, a bit sorry to Nick when he requested to borrow my car or rather my dad's car for use. Apparently his gf wanted to meet her friends in town, Orchard to be specific. I had to decline him flat in his and Joycelyn's face, I really have to draw the line clear here. I'm certainly not willing to let anybody who hasn't driven a car for a few years fetch his gf to town in my dad's car.
Who would have to take responsibility if something bad happened? I cannot be held accountable, its too heavy a risk. Then again declining him flatly in front of his gf might be a little bad so I was having some mixed feelings on the way back home. Come to think of it again, making him lose a little face is better than losing 2 lives. So.. sorry buddy if you're reading this ( I guess not :p) but I had to decline you. As a matter of fact, I would have declined anybody else.

Some musings~
Just read the 'famous' xia xue's blog a while ago cos the topic came up in BFSW & J's MSN conversation.
Seems like she criticised Fiona Xie (yeah the actress) because she thinks that Fiona's blog is hypocritical. Whatever, maybe she is maybe she isn't. All I can see is that her blog is quite devoted to God since she mentions Him in all her entries I believe.
It just came to me that people nowadays seem to be kind of spiralling back to the Stone Age or something. Our lives seem entwined with hatred and contempt, when with our higher standards of living we should actually be enjoying life more. Shouldn't we? I also read this particular blog, saying how little we get to experience the human touch nowadays.
I don't think I have an idol, and my idol definitely isn't FX because I seldom watch local TV in the first place, not that I hate her or something. At first I thought her acting was quite plastic and her voice was really wispy and all that. Soon I didn't much bother about that since it didn't really make an impact on my life. Well I realised the importance of actually having idols around through my cousins who were quite idol crazy. (For the Taiwanese boyband Energy)
Once I asked my aunt if her daughters were spending too much time and money on chasing idols. You know, the typical idol-crazy teenager, queueing up overnight for their beloved band's tickets and attending concerts, autograph sessions, promotional events etc etc. Well her answer was that at least her daughters have a certain someone to look up to. Most probably unlike my delinquent cousin who is obviously a deviant person with respect to my family who doesn't really have an idol, a goal, a certain direction to work towards.
Reading xia xue's blog, I almost thought I was watching wrestling. Her style has not changed much since I first read it a year(roughly) back. Her thoughts are IMHO a little exaggerated or biased. Almost like my prima donna cousin (yes, the one with the BMW 7 series and Fairlady Z) in some sense.
Oh well, no offence meant to anyone mentioned above. I tried to be as coherent as I could :p
At the end of the day, it all boils down to perspective. Your own, that is, which will determine your own mood and feelings.

Meow!
Hehe.. on the evening before we sent Henry off to blizzardy US of A, Beng joined me and J to the cat shelter! Oh yeah! To those involved please do not spread around the location of the cat shelter too openly because I don't know maybe trouble with the law etc. Hope you guys understand!!
Anyway I can feel that quite a number of cats have gone, most probably adopted by other cat-lovers out there. Kind of miss Shar Shar the beautiful Persian, his/her cage is now so empty without his/her presence. I forgot the name of the "cat with the saddest eyes in the world" too, too many to remember. The Indian caretaker was also quite funny, she kept saying the same phrase over and over again. "Stripes I'm going to slap your face!"
*HAHAHA*
The highlight of the session was probably playing with the cats with a laser pointer. The cats would just chase after it (except for King Charles) and keep running after the red dot without a clue it actually came from the laser pointer in our hands.
Anyway so far still very sluggish I think everyone is in the holiday mood or is it just me? Shyat man, need to wake up and start doing tutorials and readings. Problem is that the readings are sooo boring! I can't imagine how to keep awake just reading 1! Time to sleep.. sleep is very impt!

Zzzz
Stuck on my MM tutorial now, Englert might be a great teacher according to Christian but his tutorials sure are hard. :(
Dago has finally realised the existence of something called IVLE. The ass, emailed the whole lecture group as if he just found a new toy like that. Duh, can somebody slap him with a whiteboard eraser?
Despite having the large majority of today to do my work but still made little progress. Better buck up soon! Few more days and we'll be through... (to the next week of more shit and crap ass!!!)

HENG!
I thought my eventful Friday was over but this will be one of the most 'memorable for all the wrong reasons' Friday yet.
Drove to PWC building near Lau Pa Sat to pick up my sis together with my parents in Scooby and then went on towards People's Park in Chinatown to search for travel agencies because they want to go on a holiday to perhaps Korea while I don't feel like sacrificing my whole Tuesday full of lessons. And there are other reasons which will become apparent later on in the next few weeks.. Hehe.. :p
Anyway I was doing a U-turn at near this .. rooster 'ornament' near Chinatown.. and it wasn't very well lit. So I checked right, couldn't see a thing but the car before me had disappeared. So, right side clear. Checked left, cars were turning out from another street but they were relatively slow and it was one of those 50-50 situations. You could either go for it but you would have to step on the gas a little more than usual but should have no chance that anybody will horn/high beam/come close to you. Or else, wait another gazillion years.
I chose the first option so I stepped on the accelerator and zoom Scooby dutifuly delivered some useful torque and I started turning out rapidly until my dad shouted in a very kan cheong tone.
"EH EH!! 小心!有人!!!"
By the time I slapped the brakes on, the ah pek was still happily crossing the road not knowing that my bonnet was going to hit him. I can't believe that there are people who live so obliviously to the dangers of the road. And he had to cross the road exactly at the part right after a U-turn which is a pretty bad choice for a jaywalking spot.
End up, my bonnet kissed his knee I think, luckily he wasn't injured. That ah pek still gave a rude gesture but nothing obscene or vulgar. Anyway he continued to cross the road since ALL the vehicles behind me gave way thankfully and did not proceed to run him down.
Bumped into PC Lee somewhere along Chinatown and related the story to him. As I was telling him "that ah pek cross road is look straight ahead one, damned confident that he is not going to kena any cars, machiam I-robot walking."
What a day, I'm thankful to be in my room, not behind bars..
And although I initially cursed the ah pek a lot, I hope he uses proper pedestrian crossings next time and opens his eyes wide. To all readers, learn from my lesson please, the spot where your car turns to is a potential blindspot so check just before you are about to accelerate. Also, be wary, VERY WARY of elderly folk, some of them walk on the streets like they don't want to continue living anymore.

Yayee! Its Friday!!
Despite Friday having only 1 lecture, today still ended up as quite eventful. First there was SZX's lesson where I tried valiantly and unsuccessfully to draw a Japanese actor. Nevermind, I think I draw skeletons pretty well now.
After that, proceeded to canteen and ate the ice cream waffle with blueberry ice cream and some whipped cream. Wah.. not bad but I was starting to get a bit sick at the ending so its definitely not a staple for me. Went to Clementi to pay the URA fine and topped up my pathetic bank account. Next I drove to IMM, parked there and went to Tanjong Pagar to meet J for lunch. It was on the way there that I finally met the long thought to be extinct...
INDIGENOUS MRT NATIVE!!!! WAHHHH!!!
I boarded the train at Jurong East station and then at Clementi, more people boarded the train and it was getting relatively crowded and as usual the area near the train doors were quite packed. Then we came to Buona Vista and I noticed this woman, around her 30s or 40s, she came into the train and she immediately flung a cardigan/sweater/piece of cloth on the floor and she proceeded to happily sit down. Yeah man, right in the center of the door area facing the door which WILL open all the way till Raffles Place or City Hall I can't recall. So I started eyeing her suspiciously like "wtf is she doing... siao za bor etc etc"
She sure made herself at home, she was wearing a skirt (the type of formal office wear) and she somehow managed to sit so that her legs were tucked outside and pointed backwards if you get what I mean. The sitting position that if you're not flexible enough, you should not attempt. Anyway she morphed into the cross leg position (the type us students sit when in the school hall during assembly..) and she opened her bag which I assume was the free NDP gift since it had so many sponsors on it.
Next up was a minor hairdressing session, she started combing her hair and brushing her long tresses in front of the door. By this time I had noticed something white flash across on my left but I didn't really catch what it was so I continued looking at the ... "weird auntie" at best. We reached Commonwealth and I could see that this secondary school couple were going to come in through THAT door. So I happily waited while the couple looked through the glass window and thought that this cabin is relatively empty.. haha.
Sure enough they almost stepped on her (dammnit, LOL) and somehow they decided to ...tadah! STAND IN BETWEEN HER AND THE DOOR. OMG I wanted to laugh out so loud my toes were quivering in protest, maybe my sideburns were vibrating already...
Then I noticed the white thing again.. its the TEETH of the auntie standing beside me! HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!! It is SOOO damned funny she is trying hard not to giggle and when she does, she will let out a SUPER ULTRA FUNNY grin and use her arm, which is holding on the the safety handles on top, to shield her face which is like exploding with laughter. I swear I almost involuntarily sniggered with her together.. almost.. haha!
Anyway after combing her hair, the weird auntie started to.. tadah #2.. DIG HER EARS! EAR POO! Using her 4th finger (I observed her very carefully) she reached behind her neck and under the cover of her long hair, she will proceed to 'mine some gold' out and then, TADAH #3... FLICK IT AWAY with her thumbnail! Fantastic..
After all this mental trauma, fellow passengers had a short workshop on how to tie your long hair with a 'scrungee' (no idea how to spell it). Weirdo finally alighted at Tiong Bahru station at which I think all the passengers in the train let out a collected sigh. All this time the auntie had been half sniggering half quivering beside me, maybe she was even funnier than the weirdo herself. Haha..
------------------------------------
After having lunch with J, I walked her back to her office and then I took the lift down 20 storeys.
Ding! 17th storey - 2 office girls walk in.
Ding! 15th storey - I think I saw the Sun..
A young lady in her 20s or early 30s I suppose flashed the whole lift a mega wrong, GIGA watt smile. I supposed she knew one of the other 2 girls so I didn't think much of it.
Weird... how come they aren't talking?
Ding! - 1st storey, I was about to walk out of the lift then I remembered the stupid lift door closes very fast so I shifted my weight, about to walk out liao then shift it back to press the 'open' button.
"Thank you!" chirped the Sun.
"Welcome" I replied nonchalantly.
"That is so sweet!" the Sun replied in the most... honey, sugar, ester, chocolate, strawberry saccharinely sweet tone I have ever heard. Oh and she blinded me with her GIGA + 1 watt smile.
I was blinded on the way home, what a day..

Prevention is better than cure?
Anyway it is the end-users' fault that your own computers have come to be infected by various spyware and adware. If you still don't understand the importance of installing an anti-virus software, you people really need to find out more.
Note: After I reformatted my PC, I installed Norton Antivirus 2005 first before connecting to the Internet to update my anti-virus software. Within 5 minutes, the automatic firewall from Norton had already blocked the 'Back orifice' trojan horse at least twice.
So anyway to all people out there, please get your computer some protection by investing in some anti-virus software. (According to staff at a reliable computer repair shop, Norton Antivirus is the best, and free antivirus softwares use engines that are not as effective to speak simply.)
Good luck with the www.patchnow.net pop ups... unfortunately I only know the preventive method, not the cure..

Oh well.. anyway my SX1 aka SeXy1 has some software problem and it has cui-ed. So .. I have lost all my contacts except those no.s that I can remember by heart.
So only best buddy Beng, PC Lee, 1 of BFSW numbers I can remember. The rest have gone to data heaven already. You know, actually sometimes just browsing through your phone book, you find some entries that seem unfamiliar and you actually refresh your memory by looking at them. Like once I went through my entries 1 by 1 and slowly recounted the faces and memories that I have passed through.. among the more interesting entries included...
XMXMBJS - she mo she mo bo jio shen..(Only the army guys will know)
Jedi Council - Zhenwei's home number.. haha!
Mr Bella - Chew's handphone number~
WARNING: Siva hp - allows me to prepare myself for arrows.. :(
Kenny(NUS) hp - He sends lovey dovey messages to me occasionally.. by accident of course!
Kenny hp - Kenny from 42SAR, I once meant to call Kenny(NUS) but called Kenny(42SAR) to meet up for lunch in Science canteen when he was .... OUTFIELD IN AREA D! Haha!

You know its spring-cleaning time when..
You search for 1 single bloody CD for 2 hours to no avail. Being a neat and tidy person, or rather trying to be one all my life so as to speak, I normally don't misplace my stuff that easily. So when I cannot find something it will bug me to no end and I won't be able to sleep in peace.
Anyway a lot has happened in the holidays, one event of which will be a surprise to my 'loyal readers'. Been CORS-ing lately and I think I will be taking at least 1 sociology module. Probably a Geography module as well, since I dabao-ed 2 then I'll have to do 2 6-module-semesters.
Reservist letter has arrived too.. I'm so looking forward to chiong sua-ing with the rest of the guys in Area A/B/C/D/E .. NOT! Speaking of which I bumped into Chunkiat @ Seiyu Bugis Junction, where he's working at Cupid Jewels. Heard from him that Kelvin Lim aka 'xiao bing' (literally, laughing biscuit -_-") will not join us in this ICT and hence he will not be joining us in our reservist batallion. So sad.. stupid NUH don't want to release him.. there goes another funny funny character in our platoon.
Remember my oh-so-arrogant cousin who sells prawn noodles? That prima donna shot his mouth off again and I was kind of offended. Not that I'm a very petty guy to begin with but I certainly do not appreciate the idea that I am being called useless, whether it was implied or a direct attack. I'm starting to believe that mofo has prawn shells for a brain. Asshole.. I won't elaborate on it further but everybody agrees he has changed since he found his fortune.
Its time for another useless list~!
1. Toshiba TV fixed. I love Toshiba! (repairman actually came early.. impressed?)
2. Passport photo changed. (Fatimah ki-sa-man, luckily I got put coupon hehe! Noob fatimah!)
3. Tio 2 summons on same day, first for failing to display parking coupon @ Marine Parade then failing to insert cashcard for ERP gantry (CCB, lao beh take cashcard out never put back in)
4. Finally switched to using a sponge to wash scooby. Not very effective in wiping tough stains though.
5. Bought new motherboard for the PC. So far so good, the wireless connection still sucky though :(
6. New Year's eve spent at Geylang! Oops.. we were at a friend's office though, quite interesting nevertheless, counted down with 'dou jiang you tiao' now that's a first for sure!
7. Laptop seems to be so far so good, maybe its having its holiday too.. doesn't cock up now and then like it did during the academic semester.
8. Went to Mushroom Pot restaurant twice within the same week (I think.. or 7 days) which has a nice steamboat thing going on, highly recommended!
9. Stopped beside a Civil Defence vehicle which was like 2 or 3 times my vehicle's height. (I don't know what is the name but its the vehicle used for extending the ladder for rescue purposes.. er.. 'Long Red Rhino'?)
10. Saved by our geographical position from the killer tsunami waves that generated from a massive earthquake in the Indian Ocean. God bless the victims..

Ooops
Hehe.. been too busy with holidaying these few weeks.
Today's happenings, saw an auntie who nearly tripped over some .. inconsiderate/ignorant guy at Han's restaurant. Zzz.. it pays to use common sense you know..
Oops.. Christmas and New Year's day is over already.. haha Happy 2005 to all of you! -.-
My 2005 resolution is to .. put in more effort in whatever I do... at least I'll remind myself time to time?
And perhaps that will start from schoolwork!
